Master of Science in Genomics

Combined Bachelor's & Master's Program

The BS/MS program allows current Utah Tech students to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in just five years. By combining undergraduate and graduate coursework, students gain advanced training, research experience, and a competitive edge for careers or further study—all while reducing time and cost.

Program Overview

The BS/MS program at Utah Tech provides a structured, accelerated pathway for high-achieving students to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in as little as five years. Students typically apply in the fall of their junior year and, once admitted, begin taking graduate-level courses that count toward both degrees while completing their undergraduate requirements.

During their senior year, students continue advanced coursework, may begin research, and can take up to 12 credits of graduate-level courses at the undergraduate tuition rate. After completing their bachelor’s degree, students transition to full graduate status to finish the remaining master’s requirements. By integrating coursework and research across both degrees, the program reduces time and cost while strengthening academic preparation, expanding research experience, and enhancing readiness for careers, professional schools, or Ph.D. programs.
